Detailed Tour Stops

1

Hassan Tower & Mohammed V Mausoleum

Begin at Rabat's most iconic landmark — the Hassan Tower, an unfinished 12th-century minaret that was intended to be the tallest in the world. Beside it stands the magnificent Mohammed V Mausoleum, a masterpiece of modern Moroccan architecture housing the tombs of King Mohammed V and his sons. The interior is breathtaking, with hand-carved stucco, cedar wood ceilings, and intricate zellij tilework.

2

Kasbah of the Udayas

Wander through the Kasbah of the Udayas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site perched on a cliff above the Atlantic. Its blue-and-white painted streets, Andalusian garden, and ancient mosque create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Morocco. Enjoy sweeping views over the mouth of the Bou Regreg river where it meets the ocean.

3

Rabat Medina & Souks

Explore Rabat's historic Medina, smaller and less hectic than those of Fez or Marrakesh but no less authentic. Stroll through the main market street, the Rue des Consuls, lined with artisan workshops producing carpets, leather, copperware, and embroidery. Sample local street food and soak up the everyday rhythm of the city.

4

Chellah Necropolis

Visit the hauntingly beautiful Chellah — a walled Roman and medieval Islamic necropolis just outside the city center. Dating back over 2,000 years, it contains the ruins of the Roman city of Sala Colonia alongside 14th-century Merenid tombs and a mosque. The site is a sanctuary for white storks who nest in the ruins — a truly atmospheric setting.

5

Royal Palace (Dar el-Makhzen)

Drive past the imposing Royal Palace complex, home to the King of Morocco when in residence. While the interior is closed to the public, the grand golden gates, decorative tilework, and scale of the palace walls make for impressive photographs and a fascinating insight into the continuing role of the monarchy in Moroccan life.

6

Place Abraham Lincoln & Ville Nouvelle

Stroll through the modern French-built Ville Nouvelle neighbourhood with its wide tree-lined boulevards, sidewalk cafes, and grand colonial architecture. Stop at Place Abraham Lincoln — a reminder of the ties between Morocco and the United States — and enjoy the elegant European feel of Rabat's modern centre.

7

Oceanfront Promenade

End the day with a relaxing walk along Rabat's oceanfront promenade, the Corniche. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Bouregreg river, this scenic seaside walkway is lined with cafes, gardens, and viewpoints. A perfect setting to reflect on an extraordinary day in Morocco's most underrated city.
